I Know Flowers, I'm a Garden
We absolutely won't be sharing everything on the Internet, obviously - please be safe, everyone!! - but I feel it makes sense to at least be upfront about the fact that we are a DID system. It does inform how long we take to write and it does inform our slow communication with other people, or inconsistency with other things. We do our best to manage it, but it is what it is.
Things That'd Be Good to Know
- He/him is fine to refer to us by! In fact, that'd be preferred!
- Most of the time, we collectively go by Jeremy and Collin interchangeably for convenience's sake. Use whatever feels right!
- "I" and "we" are also used interchangeably. It's not something I really think too hard about?
- Jeremy is the only one that writes. All of the creative projects are his. This slows us down a lot! He also runs the overall site! Most of the time you're going to be hearing from him.
- The ten alters you're seeing down there with their little icons aren't exactly all of us; just the ones that both feel comfortable using the Internet and actually know how to do it. The count isn't that much higher, but just to put into perspective that we really, truly aren't sharing anything that'd be too sensitive to share freely. So don't worry about that!
DID Sensitivity Reading and Research
I'm alright with questions being asked about our condition if you are respectful about it! That being said, I won't entertain stereotype or blatant ableism. I also ask that you reflect on why you think the way you do about groups of people you're not a part of; it's always good to change and grow! It's a lifelong process for all of us! (Think: if you wouldn't say that to someone without a dissociative disorder or complex trauma, why do you feel comfortable saying it to me?)
No, there isn't an "evil" alter. No, we are not dangerous or violent or scary. No, there is no "real" one of us. No, I will not "switch for you" and disclosing what causes switches is completely off the table. I am not a magic trick, I'm a human being!
